Pii wants to support Prague-based projects in the fields of education, aerospace, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and the creative industries. However, it also aims to support the innovations that will help develop urban infrastructure and improve the city’s environment. The Institute operates with support from the Capital City of Prague.

Regional Development Agency of South Bohemia

The Regional Development Agency of South Bohemia (RERA) supplies specialised services for the South Bohemian Region, cities, towns, entrepreneurs, schools, and the university sector throughout the territory of South Bohemia. RERA prepares conceptual and development strategies and grant applications, managing projects for the full duration of grant-funded projects, and prepares and runs exhibitions and expos. Thanks to its expertise and linguistic facilities, RERA can capitalise on international experience as a centre of international collaboration in South Bohemia with the skills to mediate international know-how on any topic or entity from the public or private spheres. RERA’s unparalleled knowledge of international programmes and long-term collaboration with partners from Austria, Germany, and Brussels offer progressive, South Bohemian entities a great opportunity to obtain unique, supra-regional know-how and financial resources abroad.

RIS3

Recently, Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation (RIS) has been a widely used concept in supporting research and innovation, particularly in EU countries. The concept is geared towards the intelligent utilisation and development of a given country or region’s potential, with the aim of creating long-term competitive advantages based on the exploitation of knowledge and innovation. The concept of smart innovation must be understood as a new approach to innovation policy; instead of offering blanket support for research and innovation activities, government intervention focuses on chosen priority areas with great potential for development and the application of new knowledge to economic activities. The Strategy not only concerns economic growth, but takes into consideration environmental sustainability, social solidarity, and responses to social challenges. The Strategy builds on the strengths of a country or region and its specific capacities and resources concerning economics, innovation and research.

South Bohemian Agency for Support to Innovation (JAIP)

Active since 2005, JAIP is a nonprofit organisation connecting regional players in the fields of research, development and innovation in the South Bohemian Region and developing the region’s innovation ecosystem. With the support of international projects, JAIP tracks current trends in sustainable development, energy efficiency, renewable energy and the transfer of technology, social responsibility, gender, and equal opportunity. We inspire and encourage regional partners with best practices from abroad. In light of the importance of culture and tourism in South Bohemia, JAIP is involved in the DanubeCrafts project, which supports the development of traditional crafts and the related tourism infrastructure in the Czech Republic and throughout the Danube region. As part of this project, JAIP will make a significant contribution to the creation of the “Traditional Crafts Route,” a smartphone app mapping art and traditional crafts in partner countries.

South Bohemian Science and Technology Park

The South Bohemian Science and Technology Park (JVTP) is a joint-stock company founded by the South Bohemian Region in 2008 to support the scale, quality, and speed of dissemination of innovation and transfer of technology to the region’s economic practice. The primary mission and idea behind JVTP is to support entrepreneurial activity in the region. JVTP’s new building offers firms a base of operations with equipped laboratories, offices, conference rooms and technological halls; for companies headquartered there, JVTP provides everything necessary for their activities. The science and technology park’s services included support for business plans and studies and assistance in preparing research and development projects and financial plans. Other services include grant advice, including for EU framework programmes, assistance in launching collaborations in the research or applied spheres, and monitoring new scientific findings and technological trends. The service also includes assistance in ensuring the protection of intellectual property.
