THE ECONOMY OF CZECH CULTURE
The Satellite Account of Culture maps all financial flows entering the cultural sector from various sources, as well as financial flows leaving the sector. The account reflects the level and efficiency of financial management in diverse areas, the extent of labor and investment resources used, wage levels, and—last but not least—it expresses the weight of culture in the economy through financial indicators. Since 2009, its results have been regularly published by the Czech Statistical Office in cooperation with the National Information and Consulting Centre for Culture (NIPOS).
MAPPING OF CULTURAL AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES
Between 2022 and 2025, the Ministry of Culture is conducting mapping of cultural and creative industries in the Czech Republic, in line with the Strategy for the Development and Support of Cultural and Creative Industries, and with the financial support from the Czech Recovery Plan. The mapping is being carried out along two lines: at the level of higher territorial administrative units and at the level of professional associations. The mapping is based on a unified methodology developed by the Ministry of Culture for all implementing partners.
REGIONAL MAPPING AND STRATEGIES
All 14 regions of the Czech Republic took part in mapping cultural and creative industries to develop strategic documents, cultural policies, and support measures. The data helps public authorities plan future CCIs support. Using quantitative and qualitative mapping, regions and the Ministry of Culture gained insight into the state and needs of CCIs to guide funding and development policies locally and nationally.
MAPPING THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT
The socio-economic impact of cultural and creative industries s mapped across nine areas: Books and Publishing, Music, Film and Video, TV and Radio, Game Development, Architecture, Advertising, Design, and Events. The research provides insights into the status and needs of CCIs entities. Using both quantitative and qualitative methods, the research team and the Ministry of Culture gained a comprehensive overview of the sector’s economic position to inform national funding and development policies.
