Association of Online Publishers

The fundamental pillar of the Association’s agenda is lobbying Czech and EU authorities to benefit independent media through financial support and the preservation of free speech. Another aspect of the agenda centres on discussions with technological platforms concerning the rules for sharing published content and restrictions on advertising by publishers. The Association of Online Publishers aims to support a diverse Czech media environment. The Association views a diverse media as a fundamental element of a democratic state. The Association actively calls for the preservation of freedom of speech as defined in the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms of the Constitution of the Czech Republic. The members of the Association of Online Publishers actively express their opinions on issues impacting their businesses. The Association negotiates directly with all organisations impacting the media market. The publishers of the Association facilitate internships for students based on the field of study and the students’ and the publisher’s preferences.

Czech Publishers Association

The Czech Publishers Association (ČUV) is a professional organisation for publishers of digital and print media in the Czech Republic. It represents 43 members, 400 print magazines and newspapers, and over 200 titles published online. Printed titles are read by over 77% of the Czech population. Members’ web-based titles make up the vast majority of content published online in the Czech Republic. Member organisations employ over 5,000 workers and the publishers’ titles make up a large share of the significant advertising campaigns in the Czech media market. The Association is a member of EMMA (European Magazine Media Association), ENPA (European Newspaper Publishers Association), WAN IFRA (World Association of Newspapers) ,and FIPP (Federation International de Presse Periodical). To support the recognition of paper as an ecological means of transmitting information and content, the Association is a member of the international initiative Two Sides.

Music Industry Association

The founding of the Association was not only a response to the global crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, but also the establishment of a group with clear tasks for the future. The Association understands the music industry as composed of large, economically strong entities engaged in organising the largest mass events in indoor and outdoor locations. By metrics such as tickets sold, revenue generated, VAT remitted on ticket sales, and other indicators, it represents the largest grouping in the Czech Republic. As a platform, it is designed to be a dignified, sovereign partner with a strong mandate across all manner of negotiations, not only with the Czech government and the relevant ministries, but with all levels of public administration, up to and including entities not currently active in the Czech Republic’s entertainment industry. The Association strives to communicate its goals, processes, and views to the general public through active media engagement.

PLATFORM of Czech Independent Sound Recording Producers

The PLATFORM of Independent Czech Sound Recording Producers was founded in 2011 independent sound recording producers’ response to developments in the field of collective rights management. A large number of small, independent entities were unable to address their claims and demands – which often conflicted with the goals of a unified and powerful group of large multinational publishers – on an individual basis. Since its inception, Platform has endeavored to advance its members’ interests, especially in the areas of collective rights management and the distribution of sound recordings. In 2017, Platform joined the international organisation IMPALA (Independent Music Companies Association) and represents its members’ interests on the European and global levels, thus accessing knowledge of the music market from across Europe and allowing members to draw on experience and information from the greatest experts in the field. We are currently participating in a series of negotiations on new European legislation related to intellectual property, copyright, and the rights of producers and performing artists.
