Association for Building-Historical Research

Building-historical research strives for the recognition and interpretation of historical buildings as tangible sources of history and works of technical and artistic skill. The outputs of such research activities find other uses in basic research in historical disciplines, as well as in conservation, pre-design and design practices concerning the restoration of heritage sites, and the regeneration of historic urban structures.

Center for Architecture and Metropolitan Planning (CAMP)

Interested in the future of Prague, CAMP wants to improve public discourse concerning our city’s development. CAMP is an essential source of transparent and accessible information about the capital. It aims to function as an open platform: a “base camp” for anyone interested in the collective planning and functioning of Prague. CAMP houses an exhibition hall with a unique, 25-metre projection screen, a study area with a wide selection of publications about architecture, urban planning, and design, a cafe with an outdoor terrace, and a lecture hall with a rich program composed of public discussions, appearances by domestic and foreign experts, workshops, film screenings, art workshops for children, and other activities. CAMP runs the map application Praha zítra? (Prague Tomorrow?), which offers an overview of intended construction in Prague – from the first ideas, to projects in the phase of preparation, to those already completed. CAMP is part of the Prague Institute of Planning and Development (IPR Prague).

Center for Creative Museology of the Hradec Králové Region

Part of the Museum of Eastern Bohemia in Hradec Králové, the Center for Creative Museology creates an open, collaborative space for the development of museums in the Hradec Králové Region. It believes that the talents of graphic artists, designers, architects, scenographers, performing artists, IT and audiovisual professionals, and fashion designers have great potential to enrich museums and further museum management. The Center’s non-traditional approach leads to new questions and a view of museology as an inspiring, dynamic, and professional field. It supports creativity, motivates the museum community to develop original ideas, and searches for innovative solutions that respect tradition.

Czech Chamber of Architects

An autonomous professional body established by law, the Czech Chamber of Architects is the professional association for certified architects, landscape architects and urban planners in the Czech Republic. The Chamber’s primary mission is to ensure the professional quality of architectural services and protect the interests of its members. The Chamber administers and regularly updates the list of certified architects, grants certification to practice the profession, and oversees the professional level of the services provided. It establishes standards of performance and documentation for its members, provides sample contracts, and maintains a lifelong education system. Practical tools, such as a fee calculator and electronic authorisation stamp (EAS), are also available. A major area of endeavour for the Chamber involves the support of architectural competitions as a transparent means of selecting an architect. The Chamber provides consultation services to contracting authorities, prepares examples and regulations for competitions, and supervises their proper administration. The Chamber also organises the prestigious Czech Architecture Award, an annual recognition of leading architectural work, and supports public discourse concerning quality architecture. The Czech Chamber of Architects is actively involved in many current issues, such as the digitalisation of construction management, sustainability, participation, Blue-Green infrastructure, and the role of the city architect. Through these activities, the Chamber contributes to improving the architectural environment and building culture of the Czech Republic.
