NEB

NEB

New European Bauhaus (NEB) is an environmental, economic, and cultural initiative focusing on design, sustainability, investment, and other values in achieving the goals of the European Green Deal. It should be “a material dividing line” between political-economic strategy and the everyday reality of millions of people. First presented by President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen during her State of the Union address in 2020, thousands of people and organisations from Europe and around the world contributed to its creation. Ursula von der Leyen promises “an explosion of creativity” from NEB, which distributed 100 million euros to smaller and more expansive projects during its first two years of existence. From 2023 to 2024, the Commission increased this budget by a further 106 million euros from the Horizon Europe budget. According to the European Commission, the implemented projects should be “beautiful, inclusive and sustainable,” encompassing the cultural and industrial sectors at the community, regional, and international levels.
