BEDA
Bureau of European Design Associations
Founded in 1969 and based in Brussels, BEDA is a nonprofit is a nonprofit association with over 50 members from 28 European countries. Its members include publicly financed design organisations, as well as professional and business associations, all of which support pioneering design at the national or regional level. The vision of BEDA, which regards design as the driving force of sustainable growth and prosperity, is implemented via a number of pathways. BEDA focuses on three key themes: “climate change and sustainability,” “digitalisation of our futures,” and “design for growth and prosperity in Europe.” Endlessly curious about what’s next in design, we connect policy and the creative and cultural sector through design to create social value. Other activities include: a support initiative for increasing qualifications and requalification in the European community; advocating for the use of design as a tool for political decision-making or government strategy; acting as the lead organisation in European and international projects for the creative cultural sector in the areas of design, arts and crafts; advancing progressive design at the level of European policy; and support for design advocacy to increase impact at the national level.
