Broumov among The New European Bauhaus Prizes 2025

The New European Bauhaus (NEB) Prizes celebrate innovative projects and ideas that embody NEB values—sustainability, inclusivity, and beauty. Over four editions, the competition has attracted over 5,000 applications and awarded EUR 1.54 million to 72 winners. The Prizes inspire regions, cities, and towns to embrace NEB principles, foster youth participation, and promote intergenerational dialogue.

On 30 September 2025 the winners of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Prizes 2025 and Boost for Small Municipalities were announced in Brussels, during the second edition of the NEB in Regions and Cities event.

The ceremony gathered over 400 participants and featured a thematic panel discussion on the New European Bauhaus’s role in housing, urban development, and just transition regions.

Alongside the main prize categories, the European Commission also awards the NEB Boost for Small Municipalities, dedicated to European towns and cities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. This category supports projects that demonstrate how high-quality architecture and design can strengthen local communities and improve quality of life at the local level.

The Creative and Cultural Centre – Municipal Library in Broumov in Czechia was awarded within the NEB Boost for Small Municipalities category. The project was recognised for its sensitive renovation of a historic building, its strong focus on environmental sustainability, community involvement, and its ability to combine heritage preservation with contemporary cultural, educational, and creative functions. The project successfully embodies the New European Bauhaus principles by creating an inclusive, sustainable, and visually compelling public space for local residents.
